Tzatziki Sauce Recipe: An Authentic Greek Tzatziki Recipe

What is Tzatziki

First things first: what is Tzatziki recipe? Tzatziki literally means “left-over” in Greek, and is a delicious, light, and refreshing drink served at popular restaurants all over the world. It’s made with yogurt, cucumber, fresh ginger, olive oil, lemon juice, and plenty of fresh garlic. Oh, and it has a very strong “garlic smell.” It’s a simple easy drink, but it’s one that’s enjoyed all over the world, regardless of nationality and/or cuisine.

Easy Tzatziki Recipe

Preparing the ingredients is easy. You will need: half cup of olive oil, four cloves of garlic, one teaspoon of dried thyme, one teaspoon of dried oregano, one teaspoon of dried Rosemary, and one cup of lemon juice. Apart from those, you will also need: yogurt, fresh vegetables (sweet potatoes, red bell pepper, cucumber, and tomato), and raw eggs. The other components may vary depending on the tzatziki sauce recipe that you are using. It is also advisable to use quality yogurt because low-fat yogurt contains more fat and calories than the whole and natural yogurt. Alternatively, you can use low-fat buttermilk.

Combine the ingredients and let them stand for at least two hours. This will allow the flavors to meld properly. Rinse and drizzle some olive oil over the mixture and then fold in the strained garlic. Make sure all the ingredients are combined before serving.

Cook the garlic in a small amount of olive oil over medium heat until it becomes translucent and then remove it from the oil. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix them thoroughly. Stir the mixture and then place it onto a plate. Salt the prepared Zabbat cake and enjoy it while it is still warm.

Tzatziki Sauce Recipe Dish

Here’s how to make it. Place a large bowl of cold water over medium-high heat and bring to a gentle boil. Add a small handful of unsalted, finely chopped zucchini (peeled if desired) and set aside. In a large bowl, combine two cups of vinegar, a tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice, a generous pinch of salt, and a small handful of loosely packed grated cucumbers. Stir to combine. Let it sit for about five minutes so that the ingredients have time to come to room temperature. You can use fleur de sel or pink himalayan salt for this dish.

Cook the meat gyros according to package directions or make a traditional meat gyro. Form into bite-size pieces and add additional olive oil and lemon juice to taste. Salt and pepper to taste. Serve with additional crackers and, if desired, a drizzle of additional melted Greek yogurt over the top. That’s it – dinner is served. This is definitely one of my favorites! A tzatziki recipe that is also very easy to implement. In a mixing bowl, add two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and a generous pinch of salt. Stir to mix. Add a generous helping of your favorite marinara or fresh chopped tzatziki herbs. Mix until smooth.

For a tasty zesty kick, adjust salt and garlic for your tastes. When you taste it after it is stewed, you will definitely detect the freshness of the ingredients. Adjust salt according to your taste, but remember that too much salt is not good for you. Adjust garlic and red pepper flakes according to your taste, but remember too much of either flavor is not good for you. Serve and enjoy.

For a delicious and authentic tzatziki recipe, add one tablespoon of Dijon mustard in the mixture. You can substitute it with white vinegar if you are not a big fan of mustard. Finally, add the olive oil and lemon juice. Stir to mix. Cover for about 2 hours until it is ready.
